Some of you might recognize this warplane, the Kitty Hawk from an aviation shoot I had the opportunity to capture from a Lockheed Electra earlier in the year.
We managed to get private access to the Miles Airport for a dawn shoot and had such a great time running around capturing all the aircraft in a mixture of flash and natural light.
By using a two point lighting system consisting of two Nikon Speedlights, we were able to create a three point light source using the rising sun behind.
With the help of Pocketwizard Flex TT5’s we were able to radio trigger our two flashes.
This created appealing shadows and the flashes helped fill in the silhouetted plane creating a dynamic image highlighting the aggressive paintjob and features of the Kittyhawk
This is one of a series of images that will be released in stages, all of which will be available on our website for those aviation enthusiasts.
