Recently while on a property of a family friend hunting for more abandoned images, we discovered this awesome dead tree out in the dam!
Not something we see often, especially on it’s own and not surrounded by other smaller trees.
We found composition that we liked and began shooting long exposures with the use of the NiSi S5 system for the Nikkor 14-24mm. paired with the 10 Stop ND.
As usual, the colour from the sunset never really happened. But we continued shooting anyway seeing as we had clouds and rarely do out in the country.
We used a Nikon SB 910 Speedlight to light paint the tree, as it was getting quite dark now that we were in blue hour twilight.
After reviewing the image, we were happy to see a gas flare glowing in the right of the image. Adding a nice bit of colour along with the tiny amount of colour on the clouds from the end of the sunset.
