We figured it was time we posted another Astro image and another Abandoned image, so here is a two for one!
Late in the Astro season last year with the Galactic Centre low in the sky, we managed to grab this image of an Abandoned Shearing Shed not long before the Galactic Centre disappeared below the horizon.
Ideally we would have liked to spend longer on it, possibly even get a series of images that we could stack for noise reduction.
But time was limited, so we tried a few different light painting options and ended up with this being our favourite.
Usually we wouldn’t push exposure times this long due to trails beginning, but being low on the horizon. There was a lot of haze from dust and distant gas flares so we needed to extend the exposure to capture enough light from the Galactic Centre.
Using a Nikon Speedlight with an orange gel, we shot some light in on an angle to give slightly more appealing light than full direct.
